This game ready environment was part of a challenge in Beyond Extent's Discord server, created in 5 weeks by my group of 5 artists, and winning the 3rd place, in Realistic Theme, over 15 teams, that participated.
The challenge was themed “Echos of the Past”, where we decided to show the story of a life in the Trenches in World War 1.
The final environment is a reflection of four weeks of hard production work and a week of pre-production and planning.
Our team was made up of myself, Joe Bates, Karolina Nathusius, John McCormac, and Grace Bishop.
All assets are our own.
My main responsibility for the scene was to create the assets that were used to build the trenches, ex. sandbags, planks, corrugated metals, logs, spikes, barbed wired and small gravel. I also was in charge of creating our fog. It was an amazing team work, challenging and fun as I got to learn how to create fog using fog cards, and learn how to build level instances for a faster set dressing using my modular pieces. Starting from the initial blockout we had, I continued to iterate and gain feedback from my peers to ensure both quality and consistency within the environment we were building. Overall, I am very happy with the result I was able to accomplish, as well as the rest of our team, as they did an incredible job.
